Oh. My. Gosh. Where to begin this month's haul?! As you can see, my bookshelves gained a lot of books in June. I wanted some YA standalones to read so I went on a bit of a spree for those but I don't know what happened after that!

I'm really looking forward to reading Red Queen, A Court of Thorns and Roses and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell in particular. I've only read the first book in Sarah J. Maas's other series, Throne of Glass but I really enjoyed her writing so I'm looking forward to trying this new series. I also really want to get to Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell soon as I've been loving the television show. The only thing is this book is absolutely massive - so huge that you could probably knock someone out with it - so I don't think I'll be able to take it with me on holiday when I go in a few weeks!

I also came across these awesome early UK editions of City of Bones and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare so naturally, I had to buy them (you can see the front covers here)! I've now got three different editions of City of Bones but with the beautiful new UK editions that came out recently, plus the new TV show launching next year... I think I'll be adding to my Shadowhunter collection again shortly!

Hey! Sorry for being absent recently (my last blog post being in March...) but my Spring term at uni ended up being pretty full-on. But I've broken up for the Summer now so I feel like I can breath again! I visited my boyfriend at his parent's house soon after my exams and straight away I went back to one of my favourite pastimes - book shopping! I found Bloodlines and The 100 in charity bookshops for around £1 each! I started Vampire Academy, one of Richelle Mead's other series a while ago and while I haven't got round to finishing it yet I really enjoyed it and I've heard so many great this about this new series. I just need to get round to actually finishing VA now...!

I binged-watched both seasons of The 100 right before I started my exam revision and... Wow. The show is so incredible and it's jam-packed with badass heroines so the book series the show is based on has been on my TBR list ever since. I've heard the books are quite different to the show but I'm looking forward to reading some Bellamy x Clarke canon!

I also watched Far From The Madding Crowd just before I went to my boyfriend's and fell head-over-heels for the story (especially Gabriel Oak. Oh. My.) so I scoured all the charity shops we went in for a copy of the novel but lots of other people must have had the same idea as I couldn't find a copy anywhere! However Waterstones saved the day with this beautiful film tie-in edition for only £4.99 (you can see the cover here).

Lastly, we also visited The Works and when we went in they were doing an offer on The Maze Runner box sets which were reduced to just £5! I've been meaning to start this series for a while as I saw the film a while ago and loved the storyline so I'm looking forward to starting these. Hopefully I can read at least the first two before the next film comes out.

As well as these eight I also bought seven books from Penguin's new Little Black Classics collection but I'm planning on doing a separate post on them. So yeah, I bought 15 books in February... I think it's safe to say my book buying ban has gone out the window!

I've already read Eleanor & Park and Girl Online and liked them both but I'm hoping to get to Psych Major Syndrome and We Were Liars sometime this month. I don't know much about We Were Liars other than I know a lot of people that I follow on Twitter/Instagram really liked it so I'm hoping it'll be a good, quick read. I'm also looking forward to Psych Major Syndrome as I'm a psychology major too!

I also bought three Nicholas Sparks books this month! I've read two of his other books (The Last Song and The Choice) and I loved them both so I'm going to try to read some more of his books. The film adaptation of The Longest Ride is coming out next month so I'm going to save the book for when I go on holiday over Easter.

As you can see, I've been really good at sticking to my 2015 resolution of buying less books. Heh. I would point out that I only bought most of these as I came across them in charity shops but my February book haul is turning out to be just as bad as this one...

Anyway! I seemed to go a bit classics crazy in January. I'm currently reading Persuasion so I've bought the Penguin Clothbound version to replace my battered reading copy on my bookself. I also picked up The Hound of the Baskervilles to hopefully use in a reading challenge sometime this year as its pretty slim. It's one of those books that I've always been meaning to read as its set near where I live so it would be good to get this one crossed off my TBR soon. I was also excited to come across these near-perfect copies of Emma by Alexander McCall Smith and Lorna Doone by R.D. Blackmore in a charity shop. I believe Emma only came out a couple of months ago, it's a rewrite of Emma by Jane Austen and is set in the 21st century so I'm really looking forward to reading it. Along with Lorna Doone (which has such a pretty cover) I only paid £5 for the both of them! Gotta love charity book shops.

 I also *had* to buy the beautiful Waterstones exlusive edition of The Miniaturist before it sold out. I mean, just how pretty?

When we were staying with my Aunt around New Year we visited an antique centre nearby where she lives which I always love poking around for books! There are rooms with books stacked to the ceiling with books so it can be a bit of a challenge to search through them all but there are some great finds to be had. I picked up a one volume edition of The Lord of the Rings and Katherine as reading copies. I've been meaning to finish off LOTR for a while now so I thought this book would be perfect for doing so as I can just chuck it in my University bag and read it on the bus. Katherine by Anya Seyton is another book I've been meaning to read for a while as its my Mum's all-time favourite book so I'm eager to see if its something I'd like as well.

Finally I also bought this old copy of Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. My boyfriend found it hidden away in one of the stalls and pointed out that is has swastikas on the cover and spine so it is indeed very old! The cover is also made of a gorgeous buttery-soft leather and it was only £5 so I couldn't resist buying it as a curiosity.

It was my birthday at the end of September and I was lucky enough to receive a few bookish birthday presents so I thought I'd share them on here! From my Mum I received a beautiful new Penguin Clothbound version of Sense and Sensibility. How gorgeous are these set of books? I'd been putting off buying these to try to save some money but I gave in recently and bought Pride and Prejudice so I was glad to have another book to add to my new collection! My Mum also bought me this clutch bag from Disaster Designs which is shaped like a book! I'm so obsessed in love with these - I've already got a purse to match. Nobody can miss my bookishness now ;)

I also received this very pretty Moomin cookbook from my boyfriend's parents. One of my (many) obsessions is The Moomins and my boyfriend's Mum loves them also so I often get Moomin-themed presents from her. I'd not even heard of any Finnish cuisine before I was given this book so I'm really looking forward to trying out some of these recipes soon. My sister also kindly bought me this Alice in Wonderland tote bag which will definitely come in handy for lugging my university books and folders around with me!

I bought/acquired sixteen books in September. SIXTEEN. And this isn't even including the bookish presents that I recieved for my birthday at the end of the month. Oops. As you can imagine I'm going to be on book buying ban in October... Well, a partial one that is... ;)

There's so many things I could say about all of these books but I'm going to keep it short or else I think I'd end up writing an essay! I won this gorgeous pocket edition of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe from a giveaway on twitter. The Chronicles of Narnia were one of my favourite book series as a child (and still are!) so I was very excited to have won this beautiful edition. 

I also bought The Gift, Let It Snow and Outlander to save for the Christmas and New Year period. I know Outlander isn't a Christmas-y book but we're visiting family in the countryside over New Year so I thought it would be the perfect book to snuggle up by the fire with. If you do have any Christmas-y book recommendations though, please send them my way!

With my student finance (I totally bought books with the money, so it's fine!) I also bought this lovely Penguin clothbound edition of Pride and Prejudice. I've been eyeing up these classics editions for a while and I decided to take the plunge! I'd definitely love to build up a collection of these in future.

Oh dear. As you can see, I went a bit book-buying crazy in August! I read and fell in love with the first two books from Stephanie Perkins's Anna series in July so I had to get them along with a copy of her new book, Isla and the Happily Ever After. I think I've won a copy of Isla in a giveaway as well though (eek!) so I'm saving this copy to do my own giveaway on Instagram soon.

I also bought Shadow and Bone as I read it last month and Where Rainbows End with Longbourn to read before their respective films come out (although I fear the Longbourn film might be a long way off yet *sob*). Additionally I'm very excited but also a little petrified about reading The Hot Zone by Richard Preston. There's a quote on the cover from Stephen King that describes it as 'one of the most horrifying things I've read in my entire life'. Definitely one to save for the daylight hours then I think!

I also bought a copy of If I Stay which came from Green Metropolis. I may be preaching to the converted here, but if you live in the UK and you've not heard of Green Metropolis I'd highly recommend you check them out. They're basically like an online charity bookshop where most of their books are priced at just £3.75 with free delivery! How I wish I'd found out about them before! All their books range in condition but you can find some new ones. This copy of If I Stay was listed as new but it didn't state which version of the cover it was, so as you can imagine I was very surprised (and happy!) when the new movie cover turned up. It may take a bit of digging around but there are definitely some good bargains to be had on there. Plus with all this Amazon drama recently, Green Metropolis might be a good alternative to Amazon if you're not too keen on buying books from them anymore.

I was also lucky enough to win a competition on Twitter hosted by My Kinda Book. The prize was a copy of Josephine Angelini's new book, Trial by Fire, and some lovely book swag! I'm very excited to read this book, the story sounds really interesting and all the reviews I have seen so far seem to be raving about it!

I know the amount of books I've bought this month does look insane but I did attend a book signing, plus Waterstones were doing a buy one get one half-price deal so that makes it okay... right? Besides my boyfriend gifted me The Novice and The Magicians' Guild so I've only actually paid for 13 of these books... quite harmless really... *cough*

Aside from the books I bought at the book signing at the start of the month (blog post on that here), I also bought City of Lost Souls, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess, Angelfall, Divergent and Insurgent as I'd already read them my Kindle and loved them all so I wanted a physical copy of each to display on my bookshelf.

In addition, being a massive Harry Potter fan, when I heard about JK Rowling being revealed as having written The Cuckoo's Calling under a pseudonym (article on this here), I naturally had to rush out and buy it straight away! I also found a really good copy of  her other adult book, The Casual Vacancy so I'm hoping to read them both soon.

As well as buying a ridiculous amount of books I also bought an even sillier amount of TMI/TID-related merch but in an effort to keep this post from being double its size I thought I'd save that for another time!

Here's hoping I can control my book and related merchandise buying compulsions in August...

This month I mainly bought books from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare after I read the books on my Kindle over the past few months and fell in love with them. I took advantage of the great offers in The Works (a discount book store in the UK) and bought most of the series from there. I also found some great bargains in charity shops, including a pristine copy of Clockwork Angel for only £1.79!

My boyfriend was also kind enough to bring me back a Chinese copy of City of Glass from Hong Kong. It such a pretty book - it has shiny cover art, which my inner magpie adores, and decorated chapter pages.

For book-related merchandise I bought a bag from The Notting Hill Bookshop whilst we were visiting Portobello Road in London, just because I liked the name (yes, I am a sad person). I also bought a Angelic Power Rune necklace from etsy which I wore to the signing with Cassandra Clare on 4th July - more on that later!
